Disneyland Nightmare Mansion Meetup!

I got into the Nightmare before Xmas Meets Haunted Mansion meetup for the Disney Blog last year.  I took some of my new friends from Disneyland Pulse, and we had a FANTASTIC evening.  The evening was topped off by each of us receiving a ticket to come back for Mickey's Halloween Party!  I hadn't been in several years, and was excited to see what had changed.  After the meetup, where we got to learn a few things about the Haunted Mansion, and see some AWESOME props, we basically had an HOUR with the Haunted Mansion Holiday ALL TO OURSELVES!  I think I took about 150 pictures, and we rode the Mansion 6 times (I was busy taking pictures!).  We would have ridden more, but we needed to go get Dessert back at the French Market and get our Surprise Tickets to return for Mickey's Halloween Party!  Those Pictures to follow in my next post!

Fantastic Day at the Parks 6/10/12

Today was a GOOD Day for Disney.  Got up early, and headed to the Parks to register for Glow with the Show.  Click here for more info.  We got Princess Parking in the M&F Parking Structure.  (For those who don't know me personally, Princess Parking is any time you get a Parking Space near the Front).  We got Parking 50 feet from the Elevators!  It's always a great day when this happens.  The lines for the trams at 10am were short. We got on the first tram no problem.  The lines for the Ticket Booths were short.  We waited maybe 5 minutes.  My bff - C - had to renew his pass today.  He was dreading paying the abominable $649 price for premium, but didn't see any other way since his pass expired today.  We were greeted by a VERY pleasant CM who immediately informed my best friend that he could actually renew his premium pass at the OLD PRICES!  AND since his pass was set to expire today, he could take advantage of the $20 discount for renewing his pass!  So his premium pass ended up costing only $479!   You too can take Advantage of the Price Furlough until June 30th (A CM told us July 6th but I have been corrected on twitter by a "member of the AP dept").  Regardless you have 20 more days to get the old pricing on your AP Renewals!

Everything after this was just a bonus!  We didn't get to see any of Buena Vista Street or Carsland, but who cares at that point!  We rode everything we wanted, and I got my obligatory Mint Julep.    Below is the Photographic Evidence of our Adventure!

Carsland Meetup for Disneyland

You all know my thoughts and feelings about Meetups at Disneyland.  Love Them! Dislike the people who run them.  Today's thoughts for the day are in regards to the Disneyland Cars Land Meetup that the Disney Blog posted yesterday.


While I am disappointed that I was not selected, I am still hopeful to earn some sort of spot for the AP Previews.  I really wish that the person who runs the blog was more forthcoming with rules though.


The Blog states "I will give an update at the top of this post when capacity has been reached. Please note the event is subject to change or cancellation without notice."    and to me this means that it is a first come first serve sort of situation.

I don't believe this is how people were selected though, as no one I know that submitted in the first 5 minutes was selected as a participant.  

This does not diminish my excitement for Carsland, but it is diminishes my excitement for the Disney Blog.  Why call it a Meetup if you are only inviting 33 people? It's more of a contest at that point.  A meetup to me is usually a much larger crowd, and has been labeled as such by Disney in the Past.  Also, it's kind of a lame meetup, as you don't get to ride the rides, or experience anything in Carsland, and you can't even take pictures!  No Cell Phones, Pictures or recording devices period.   If Disney was trying to create an anti-hype, they sure succeeded as there are already HUNDREDS if not THOUSANDS of photos of Carsland available on the internet.  

Regardless of all of this though, I will be at the Parks this Sunday for Bat's Day in the Fun Park.  A REALLY fun day at Disneyland where Goths of all kinds come together for some fun at the parks.  Follow Bat's Day on Twitter @batsday for more info.  

I have also booked us a hotel room for June 14.  So that we can be at the parks EARLY on the 15th (you know it's going to be an INSANE day with all the new stuff opening!).  I am excited to have hundreds of new photo opportunities this summer, and encourage you to attend Disneyland June 16th or later (I'm going on the 15th, stay out of my lines!!! hehe).

After the last 2 events that I've been unable to attend through the blog, I am not sure I will continue to read or try to go to the meetup's anymore.  It's been disappointing to say the least, and I was less than impressed with the previous 2 I did attend.  The manager of social media, print is really sucking the life and fun out of Disneyland Meetups.    The last thing I really enjoyed was the AP Night at the parks in October 2011.  That was a truly great evening!  I really hope they do stuff like that again, as these meetups on the blog are just getting worse.
