Pirates of the Caribbean

As much as I wanted to go to the Premiere of POTC 4, I just didn't have a spare $1000 to donate to Charity to get a ticket!  I did however get to go to the park the day BEFORE the premiere, so I got to see everything set up and waiting.  What we missed though was an addition to POTC the Ride, that took place that night!  A Change to the Davy Jones Ghost Fog, transformed into Blackbeard!  Someone on twitter posted video of it and I'm gonna share it with you here...

It's just a link, and I PROMISE there are no virus' or malignant software or any of that crap if you follow the link.    What I've been told is that this will be featured in the ride for the better part of this year starting May 20th (although why would they change it back if it's already working? so it might be there already!).  I think this may be a GREAT improvement over D.Jones.  He really didn't do a whole lot for me, and adding new elements is a great way to update the ride!  I just wish they would update the pirates to look more realistic!  Perhaps in the next major refurb?

PS.  In case you are looking for Hidden Mickeys there are several on this ride.  My 3 favorite being a Hidden Goofy, One thats VERY hard to see and a Hidden mickey near the end.  The goofy is just past the "sleeping" pirate in his Big Beautiful bed and the Tavern near the beginning.  Look up in the Rock Formations as you round the corner into the Treasure Cove, and you will see Goofy in the shape of the rocks!  As you come into the Pirate Ship Scene, with the Fort, if you turn your head to the RIGHT and look at the holes in the fort as you are almost into tortuga, you will see 3 holes in the shape of Mickey.  Very hard to see especially if they have the fog really strong that day!  The 3rd and absolute favorite of mine is a hidden Mickey on the ARMOR plates found just before you head up the last ramp.  You will have to look to the left, it is on the far left side of the left wall, in a setup of 3 armor breastplates.  In the middle of one is a tiny Mickey.  It's been moved around over the years, and used to be right behind the pirate on the left firing.  Look for it, and you won't be disappointed!!

My First Real Memories of Disneyland

I was young. Very young. Maybe 4 or 5? I was at Disneyland with my parents.  My dad was taking me on Dumbo.  As a young child I remember loving even the scary rides, but this one ride has a particular memory.  It was the day I met Lou Ferigno, aka The Incredible Hulk.  I am sure he was there with his kids, as he was in line for Dumbo as well.  My dad is a chatter, and probably said more than he should to him.  I don't really remember that much more from that day.  But it's something I'll always remember because it was at Disneyland.

Flash forward a few years.  I was a teenager by this point, and by now I was going to Disneyland with my best friend and her family as well.  We had all been in the park all day when our parents all wanted to do a little shopping.  Well where does a kid go in Disneyland Main Street to ditch the parents? The Magic Shop.  They have all the best of the worst tricks, and my heart.  This trip we stopped in, and the shop was totally crowded. No one could get in, so we tried to find out why!  It turns our Neil Patrick Harris was in the park, visiting HIS favorite store!  After a few minutes he came outside with a bunch of the tricks from the store, and started doing card tricks.  We were stoked. We were in the front of everything happening and then he chose ME to pick a card!  I was so nervous, but it was so much fun.  He was very down to earth, and friendly.  He never acted like a celebrity.  He was just a kid himself, having fun in Disneyland.

These are the types of things I love about the Park.  You can run into hollywood celebrities and they are just real people when they are at Disneyland!  Disney creates these memories that we can share and keep forever.  The rest of this blog will try to be about the things I love in Disneyland, California Adventure, and the areas surrounding the parks.  I will answer questions, and I will keep you up to date!!
